Water Safety Social Story

Spending time by the water can be fun and relaxing, but it can also be dangerous.

Drowning is a serious risk when spending time in or around a body of water.

Bodies of water can include pools, lakes, rivers, or the ocean.

When I’m near a body of water, I should check for dangers, such as deep water, strong currents, or slippery surfaces.

I should also follow the posted rules and guidance from lifeguards or staff.

I should never enter a body of water alone.

Running near a body of water could cause me to slip and hurt myself.

If I feel tired, uncomfortable, or unsafe, I should take a break and get out of the water.
