Before my medical procedure, I might need to meet with an Anesthesiologist, who will help me get ready for it.
This may be a few days before my procedure or even on the same day.
I can have a support person with me during my meeting.
The doctor will ask me questions about my medical history. These questions will help the doctor know what medicine to give me.
The doctor will explain which medicine I need for my procedure.
I can bring my favorite things with me, like a stuffed animal. I can also ask for a break if I need it.
I may be told not to eat or drink the night before my procedure.
The doctor will ask if I have any questions. If I brought a support person, they may also ask questions.
When the meeting ends, I will either be sent home with instructions, or my procedure will begin.
