When people get older, they may need more help at home.
A person might come to their home to help them. This is called homecare.
Homecare can help keep people safe and comfortable at home, instead of going to a hospital or facility.
There are a few types of people that could come into the home to help out.
A nurse can help with things like wounds, medication, and checking health.
A home health aid can help with things like bathing, personal care, and setting up meals.
A therapist can help with physical or occupational therapy.
All of these people should wear
a name badge and may bring tools to help them do their job.
It’s usually the same person each visit.
Most visits happen once a week and usually last about 1 hour. Visits will be scheduled ahead of time.
The professionals will explain what they are doing while they are doing it.
Your loved one will decide if they want their homecare visit to be private, or out in the open.
When the visit is over, the professional will leave and might give your loved one instructions for the next visit.
