Vaccines help keep me and others healthy.
A vaccine helps people from getting sick.
Sometimes I will only need a vaccine once a year like a flu shot.
Other vaccines like Hepatitis B may be multiple shots over a few weeks or months.
I can get a vaccine at my doctor, pharmacy, or health clinic.
They will ask my name, birthday, and a few questions.
I will sit in a chair or on an exam table.
They will push up my shirt sleeve and clean off a spot on my arm with an alcohol wipe.
The wipe may feel cold and smell different.
I may feel a pinch when the needle goes into my arm.
My arm may feel sore for a day or two after getting the vaccine.
They will put a band aid on my arm and then I can leave.
