Hosted by PA Training and Technical Assistance Network (PaTTAN)

What Works: Cracking the Code of Effective Instruction
October 30, 2025 ~ 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm

This presentation explores the essential components that define effective instruction across various settings, including large group, small group, and individual teaching. Key strategies such as group signaling, choral responding, scripted lessons, and the use of consistent instructional language will be discussed in depth. A special focus will be placed on Direct Instruction (DI) programs—such as Reading Mastery, Language for Learning, and Connecting Math Concepts—to illustrate how these components are applied in structured curricula. Participants will engage with video examples and breakout sessions designed to foster collaboration and practical application. Even educators without access to DI materials will leave with actionable strategies to enhance instructional effectiveness in their own classrooms.

Wired for Success: Building Executive Function in Students with Autism
February 11, 2026 ~ 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm

Challenges with Executive Function Skills (EFS) are among the most prevalent neurodevelopmental features in autism spectrum disorders. It is essential for educators to address these deficits as research indicates individuals with better EFS experience more successful social engagement, more positive interactions with teachers/peers, and increased academic performance. Participants will learn about foundational and advanced executive function skills, how deficits in these areas manifest in the classroom setting, and review strategies to support EFS development for students with (ASD).
